Gladney China families have quite clearly expressed their desires for post-adoption services. The China Initiative will give us the ability to provide an outstanding set of programs.
Professional Counseling Parents of children adopted from China have a unique set of needs for support and education. China's international adoption program is relatively young. Many of the challenges of raising children who began life in an institution are only now beginning to present themselves. Whether you have just returned from China with your child or adopted several years ago, Gladney’s China program is here to provide you with the post-adoption support you need. Through workshops, group discussions and other means, Gladney China families will receive valuable information and guidance on health, development, and psychosocial issues that adoptive families may encounter. Gladney understands the importance of post-adoption support and our wish is to provide our families with the resources they need to raise happy, healthy and well-adjusted children. Cultural Development Probably every Gladney China family knows about the annual Chinese New Year festivities. More than anything, these events are a celebration of the ancient and rich cultural heritage of our children. And they are only the beginning. As a result of the China Initiative, we will be able to offer significant educational programs on China's culture, history and language. In a special opportunity, we will be coordinating a tour to Beijing in 2008 for the Olympic games. We will also sponsor and coordinate homeland tours to China to connect children and families to their Chinese heritage. One exciting new development is a partnership with The China School to create a Cultural Enrichment Program to provide education in Chinese art, culture and Mandarin. Some families have already used Gladney China services to build a stronger connection between themselves and China. Visit our family stories section to share some of their experiences. ![]() ![]() |
